Hoop Dreams

Life with a child in sports is very busy!! Jaxson participates in swimming and basketball right now, so he has practice four nights a week, with basketball games on Saturday and swim meets on Sunday. Thank goodness he has his last swim meet tomorrow and we will only be involved in one sport!! I will blog about how tomorrow goes later, it's the Championships, and we are very excited!!

I have to admit Nick and I like watching Jaxson play basketball little bit more than going to the swim meets....shhhhh don't tell him! We both played basketball, and both just love the sport, and at the end of the day, it's just more exciting. I am admittedly a competitive person, and yes, I am one of "those" moms, screaming and cheering at all the games. I will say I am always positive and cheer all the kids on regardless for how they play, I just really get into it. Today the Cyclones suffered their first lost, and I think the boys handled it well, although I did see some fighting back tears, but everyone showed great sportsmanship. They are 3-1 now, and about half way through the season. Personally, it may have been harder watching them lose their first game, than it was watching the Ducks lose earlier in the week, but I too showed great restraint and told Jaxson to keep his head up.

I keep reminding myself that this is only 3rd grade and that it's only going to get worse as they get bigger, more aggressive, and more competitive!! We love it though, and look forward to many, many, many more years of basketball games!! Oh the bleacher butt though...we are investing in some great butt pads soon :-)
