We are the Champions

Jaxson's last swim meet of the year was a great success. His team ended up winning the CYO Championships for the second year in a row...WHOA!!! Jaxson really has improved so much this year, and has improved on most of his times too. He is really excited now because next year he will take the leap into the Cub program. Jaxson swims for Valley Catholic because his school does not offer swimming, and they split it up into three programs....Polli (K-3), Cub (3-6) , and Cadet (7-8). This makes it really great for the kids because they get to swim with others at their same level and grade. When you are a Cub you get to compete in the Butterfly and you start to learn the under water turn, this is a big deal apparently!

The swim meets are usually hot and crowded, but this last one was ridiculous. They had 11 schools crammed into the Tualatin Pool, and really it would have been tight for a two school meet. Nick had to volunteer on deck, so Grant and I sat smashed together in a hot and humid pool for five hours! Not to mention we were sitting on metal bleachers and so smashed together I could not use my butt pad...I was not a happy momma!! There were also so many kids on the deck that we could barely see Jaxson swim too, which was the whole reason I was sitting through that misery. Needless to say, I did fire off an e-mail to the CYO Swim Director expressing my dissatisfaction, in the nicest and most Christan way possible of course:-)

In the end our team won, and Jaxson will get a shining new medal, so I guess all the pain and suffering was worth it. I just have to remember this when swimming comes around next year.

Here are a couple pictures of this last meet so you can better understand how crazy it was:

Lots of people!

That's Nick in the yellow shirt in the far corner, he was the "safety marshall." He was not thrilled!

I had to stand up to take this picture...Jaxson is the second one in.

All the kids waiting to to swim....highly organized madness!!
