Jaxson's Birthday was on April 30, a Saturday this year. For the last eight years we have always done a big party on or around that date. However, this year he decided he wanted to have a couple of friends over for a sleepover and just hang out. We do have a gift certificate for a party at Big Al's that has yet to happen, so we will probably do a party for him and his friends from school later this month.
Jaxson's three friends arrived about four and we decided to go to dinner and take them to Wunderland. After that we got a movie for them to watch. We have definitely entered a new phase in life...the sleepover phase!! This is not our first sleepover by any means, but the first at our house with this many kids. Four crazy, excited, wild boys plus Grant made for an interesting evening. The conversations were hilarious and I cannot even imagine what compels them to do or say half of the things that come out of their mouths or any other areas of their body. The whole going to sleep thing is tougher than you would think...after two hours of hi jinks, we had to separate them into two rooms....they were asleep in five minutes! I can't say I look forward to many more sleepovers...well unless they are at someone elses's house that is:-)
Nick and I got Jaxson a new bike and helmet....he LOVED it!!!
Opening gifts!!
Grant was a tad upset when he realized none of the gifts were for him!
The crew at Wunderland!!
Donuts for the baseball team too!!!
Jaxson at a glance:
He is hysterical...the class clown as he likes to brag. Although he is really funny, he also has a very serious side and tends to worry about such adult problems, and for this reason Nick and I have to to be extremely careful about what we talk about in front of him. The child is a champion ease dropper so there are virtually no private conversations.
He loves his friends and hates school, so he says! He would do anything to play with his two best friends all day and never go to school. I have read that this is perfectly normal, and that peer acceptance is extremely important at this age, so I just go with the flow when he comes home complaining about school everyday. The funny thing is that he is doing fantastic in school. For a child who is dyslectic he is above and beyond every benchmark. I think he just has a flare for the dramatics, well it comes honestly.
He also LOVES sports!! He swims, plays basketball, and this year started baseball! We are a big sports family, so the fact that Jaxson loves sports makes Nick and I very happy. We all get really excited to go watch his games, and Grant loves to sit and watch his bubba play, well when he is not peeing beside the baseball field that is:-)
He has a crazy imagination and can think of the wildest stories, insane questions or just make songs up. He loves to read, draw, and build legos. Right now he is into Star Wars, Ninjago, and Wii of course!
He is also so stubborn!! He and I have a battle of the wills, and he is constantly testing the limits. I can tell that as we enter those dreaded teenage years we are going to really bump heads...I have been practicing my, I am not backing down face, as I will quickly lose my voice if I continue to repeat myself the hundred times a day I am currently pacing!
Jaxson continues to show me what unconditional love is, and has been the greatest gift I have ever received!! As I watch him grow into a young man it amazes me how fast he changes, and how independent he is becoming. As sad as it sounds, I actually treasure the time when he is not feeling well...not that he does not feel good, but it gives me a chance to snuggle him, and just sit and talk to him without him rushing away to play! It's those quiet times that really show me what an amazing person he is!! I love him so much!
